What Makes Them Special
“For 50 years, The Hermitage has been dedicated to the shelter, protection, and care of homeless cats, especially those that are often not considered adoptable by other organizations. We are both an adoption facility and long-term sanctuary.

No-Kill Philosophy
At the Hermitage, we adhere to the principle of no-kill in that no cat in our care will ever be euthanized to make room for another, nor will any cat in our care ever be destroyed except in cases of terminal and painful illness or when compassion demands it because there is no reasonable alternative.

Founded in 1965, The Hermitage Cat Shelter is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization supported entirely by donations. We are both an adoption facility and long-term sanctuary for felines considered “adoption-challenged,” including felines who are FIV+ or FeLV+, or have other types of chronic health issues. The Hermitage was accredited as a Sanctuary in 2013 by the American Sanctuary Society.  All of our kitties roam free within 9,000 square feet of outdoor/indoor living space.”

Big Heart Coffee is supporting

Grace Retreat Foster Care and Adoption Service in December.

Grace Retreat Foster Care and Adoption Services is a licensing agency contracted by the State of Arizona. Grace Retreat is committed to support families through the process of becoming licensed and providing a home for children. We believe that by supporting the families, they are able to better support the children in their home.

Their mission is to provide an environment where children are valued, loved, and safe by placing them in the care of families who are respected, supported, and educated.

Their efforts in fundraising and resources obtained will directly benefit and support the children and families we serve. They are open to constantly changing their approach in the way they support children and families to fit the demand of the ever changing child welfare system.

"The mission of Provision Project is to provide financial relief to women in active treatment for breast cancer.

The breast cancer battle is real. The news of diagnosis is hard to receive. Treatment is scary. And for some women, life has become nearly impossible. Marriages have ended. Jobs have been lost, or they’re too sick to work. Now, in addition to fighting for their lives, they are battling to keep up with the most basic of bills: food, rent, utilities, gas, medical co-pays.  It’s heartbreaking.

That’s why Provision Project was created.  Provision Project makes a way for women in active breast cancer treatment to receive tangible help quickly."

In April Big Heart Coffee is supporting

The Shyann Kindness Project!

Shyann impacts many people in Tucson giving kindness to those in need.

The mission of The Shyann Kindness Project is to serve and put smiles on the faces of underprivileged, at-risk, and medically fragile children by providing fun and needed gifts while promoting and teaching kindness and acceptance of all people.”

The smiles happen in low-income schools, shelters and transitional housing, TMC emergency center, clinics for children and parties.

Donations can be dropped off at Big Heart Coffee

New backpacks & school supplies

at Big Heart Coffee in July.

For children we serve Smoothies, Steamers, Chocolate milk, Sparkling juice Izzes, Rootbeer Floats,

or a cup of vanilla ice cream with chocolate shavings.

Royal Family Kids donation

Royal Family Kids

Thanks to YOUR ‪Big Heart Coffee‬ teas and coffees, we donated $185 to ‪Royal Family Kids Camp‬ working with abused, abandoned and neglected children in the foster care system. 

Royal Family KIDS Camp #301 is sponsored locally by Neighborhood Church here in Tucson, Arizona.  Our team shares a passion to create positive memories and life-changing moments for foster children in our community who have experienced the pain of abuse, neglect or abandonment. Through a week-long summer camp, these children experience security, warmth and love from dedicated volunteers; they discover self‑worth and a feeling of success as they accomplish projects, make friends, and have FUN!
