Workability Program Tucson

Workability is a fabulous program that prepares people with disabilities for employment—new friends, bright smiles, and outstanding supervisors makes it a joy to come to work.
"What started as an idea became a reality for UCP of Southern Arizona (UCPSA). Vanessa Zuber, who had been a Habilitation manager, often heard her families speak about the lack of employment opportunities for their kids of transition age. Vanessa sought to set up a volunteer position for a client, on her case load, at the UCPSA office, which would ultimately turn into a paid position for the individual. Between the position at the UCPSA and feedback from families wanting a bridge program from high school to adulthood, this became the catalyst for the future WorkAbility program.

Vanessa and the WorkAbility team kicked off the Starting Line for Employment and new intakes on January 20th 2014 - Martin Luther King holiday. We felt that this day was apropos!

Presently, the program offers a variety of customized curriculum's - one, on the U of A campus working in collaboration with the Tucson Unified School District's - Project FOCUS transition program, a 10-week rotating employment workshop program at the WorkAbility site, and a 20 week job readiness program for transition age students at the WorkAbility site.
In addition to the curriculums, WorkAbility offers job development and on the job coaching to our members that are ready to be employed. The goal is to support and encourage ALL of our members to reach their employment goals!"  www.workabilityucpsa.org
